As we continue to grow our project portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, based in our Navan office, Co. Meath.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor with electrical or MEP experience to join a growing business and play an important role in the successful commercial delivery of major electrical and data centre projects.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of electrical projects from initial contract award through to final account.
Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Engineers, Procurement and site teams, you will ensure projects are commercially controlled, financially successful and delivered in accordance with contractual requirements.
The role will involve working on large-scale electrical and data centre projects, providing exposure to technically complex projects and working with major clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial aspects of electrical and data centre projects from contract award through to completion.
Review and understand contracts, specifications, drawings and project documentation.
Monitor project costs, budgets, commitments and expenditure.
Prepare and submit monthly valuations and payment applications.
Manage the commercial process for electrical packages and subcontract works.
Review, assess and agree subcontractor and supplier applications for payment.
Manage variations, change orders and additional works, ensuring all changes are properly recorded, valued and submitted.
Prepare and maintain accurate project forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.
Monitor project performance against budgets and identify potential commercial risks and opportunities.
Assist with procurement and commercial negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
Prepare, negotiate and agree subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
Maintain accurate commercial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with contractual correspondence and ensure commercial notices are issued within required timeframes.
Review project progress and ensure commercial reporting reflects the current position on site.
Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to identify and capture variations and additional works.
Assist in managing project cash flow and forecasting.
Attend commercial, project and client meetings as required.
Support the successful handover and close-out of projects.
Contribute to the continued development and improvement of DECO's commercial processes.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
3+ years' experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within electrical contracting, MEP or data centre projects.
A relevant Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or Commercial Management qualification.
Strong commercial experience within the electrical/MEP contracting sector.
Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of large-scale electrical or data centre projects.
Strong understanding of electrical packages, subcontracting and procurement.
Experience managing valuations, variations, change control and final accounts.
Experience reviewing and negotiating subcontractor applications and accounts.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, specifications and contractual documentation.
Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
Experience with commercial management or cost-control software would be advantageous.
Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Estimators, Procurement and site teams.
A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial responsibilities.

Location
This is a full-time position based in DECO's Navan office, Co. Meath, with travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
